Wettelijke handelsrente: late payment interest in the Netherlands (July–December 2026)

In the Netherlands, businesses paid late can claim statutory commercial interest (wettelijke handelsrente): the ECB rate plus 8 percentage points, reset every half-year and added to the debt at the end of each year. Since 1 July 2026 it is 10.4% a year, plus at least €40 in collection costs.

A line for your final reminder
Invoice #1042 is now 30 days overdue. Under the Dutch Civil Code, art. 6:119a (wettelijke handelsrente), late-payment interest of €21.37 (10.4% a year) and a fixed recovery fee of €40.00 can now be added. I’m happy to waive this if the invoice is paid this week.
